Elves make camp magical

What is an Elf?

  • Elves bring life to our camps. They bring the energy, make connections to campers and ensure camp runs like clockwork.
  • They are more than counselors in training leading outdoor activities, songs and games. They are our secret sauce that makes camp so special.
  • The Elf program is a fun leadership experience. They learn teamwork, build communication skills and confidence that they carry forward into their lives. Elves also are wonderful role models for the campers.
  • Elves get to work in groups of two or three in camper or core program units as well as together for flag ceremonies, skits, training, etc…

Who Can Become an Elf

  • Elves are girls in 7th through 12th grade at the time of registration.
  • New elves must have attended DDC once in the last 3 years.
  • If the elf applicant is too old to attend as a camper to gain that experience, DDC will consider other Girl Scout / leadership experience.
  • The number of Elves accepted each year is limited.
  • Elves applying with adult volunteers have priority in registration.

What does it take to be an Elf?

  • We need elves with all different skills and personalities. Not every elf has to be super extroverted.
  • Being an elf takes commitment.
  • All Elves are required to attend and pass training. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Elves are required to perform 2 hours of approved service for Diablo Day Camp.
  • Elves are expected to arrive at camp 30 minutes before the start time and stay up to 30 minutes afterwards, (same as adult volunteers).
  • Elves are also expected to attend their session’s planning meeting and attend the Set-Up Day for their session.
  • All Elves must be currently registered Girl Scouts.

Join us at Elf Camp

  • At Elf Camp, elves get to be the campers.
  • Elves who attend a regular session of Diablo Day Camp (either location) this summer can sign up for Elf Camp during the July 4 week. Space is limited.
  • Elf Camp is 3 days, 2 nights, Monday to Wednesday.
  • Attend day only (9:00am to 5:00pm) for $110.
  • Stay for dinner, campfire and overnight for $140.
  • At Elf Camp, kapers include flag up and down, singing, cooking lunch, and doing dishes. (Someone has to, because elves are campers, not elves!)
  • Elves enjoy workshops like archery, swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, games, escape room, or just chill out.
  • You make your schedule and pick which things to do.
