Be a volunteer

The day camp staff is 100% volunteer! Adult volunteers who work a session of camp this summer are given priority in registration. We have all the fun the girls have too – making new friends, learning new skills and best of all, the satisfaction that comes from making it happen for the girls. Contact any session director to learn more about volunteering.

Family members attend camp the same session unless otherwise requested. Volunteers do not work directly with their own children. All Diablo Day Camp volunteers must commit to working all five days of camp. Part time volunteering is not allowed in order to provide the best adult/girl partnership experience for the girls.

All camp volunteers are registered adult Girl Scouts (there is a $15 fee per person if you’re not already registered) and have completed screening including a background check. Adults arrive at camp at least 30 minutes before scheduled start times and stay up to 30 minutes after published end times.

All volunteers must attend training. Check the Training Dates page on this site and mark your calendar. If you volunteer to work at camp and are not able to fulfill your commitment (including training), any children associated with your application will NOT attend camp.

If you are interested in volunteering at camp this summer:

  1. Complete the adult volunteer section of the registration form.
  2. Complete the Boy information for your additional children.  Boys currently enrolled in elementary school (grades 2 through 5) are welcome to attend camp with their volunteer parent. Boys currently in sixth grade or above are too old to attend our camp. Please make other arrangements for these children.
  3. All Adult volunteers are registered Adult Girl Scouts. Upon acceptance as camp staff any adult who is not currently a registered Girl Scout must complete the on-line registration and background check through the Girl Scouts of Northern California. Volunteer Application online with GSNorCal.
  4. Training is required to provide a safe environment and quality experience for each child and adult at camp. Teamwork is critical for a safe and pleasant experience and it begins with meeting your fellow volunteers at training. We can not accommodate children at training.
  5. New adult volunteers must attend all training modules. Second year adult volunteers must attend modules II, III and IV. Experienced volunteers (third year and more at the same location) must attend modules III and IV-1 and IV-2.
  6. Please DO NOT call the council office to register for camp training days. Once accepted into a session, your session directors will be your primary point of contact.
